Application packets for this test are available in the Academic Counseling Department on the Raymond Campus. Effective Fall 1996, the State Board of Education approved an exemption to the NTE for any student who had an ACT composite score of 21 (SAT equivalent of 860) with no sub-score below 18 UPON HIS/HER INITIAL ENTRANCE INTO COLLEGE. A student who has earned any college credit before taking the ACT does not qualify for this exemption.

The student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree should take additional courses in his subject field: ex. more history, English, mathematics courses, etc. He must also take 6 hours of science in sequential courses and should review his declared major before deciding whether to take BIO, CHE, or PHY courses. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Arts degree should select two years of the same foreign language. Hinds Community College teaches French and Spanish.
