20/20 Summit
October 22, 2007
Dear Constituents,
As we begin to plan for the celebration of MUW’s 125th anniversary in 2009, it is very appropriate for us also to plan for our future. We want to actively look at what lies ahead for MUW, and we need your help. I want to invite you to take part in an opportunity to share your ideas for the future work of Mississippi University for Women as we embark on our exciting project MUW 20/20: Envisioning Our Future / Fulfilling Our Promise.
Those taking part in this daylong exercise will include MUW faculty, staff, students, and administrators plus local and state business and civic leaders. Our task is to leverage our collective wisdom to generate ideas that will help MUW build on our outstanding university and meet the needs of our greater community and state. Our goal will be to come up with some recommendations for MUW by considering both current opportunities and future needs.
This creative day-long session will be professionally facilitated and will include the opportunity for participants to interact in open conversation. We will share and build on ideas as we consider together what MUW can be, in a way that honors our past and fulfills the promise of our future potential.
The session will be based on the KnowledgeConnect™ process developed by the facilitators and is similar to charrette sessions used for community building and planning processes. KnowledgeConnect is based on a simple and profound insight: There is nothing more powerful for sharing knowledge and creating innovative solutions than people engaged in a conversation about something they care about.
The daylong session on Monday, October 29, will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will wrap up by 5:00 p.m. It will take place in the Pope Banquet Room in the Hogarth Building, here on our beautiful campus. A continental breakfast will be available at 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be provided.
Enclosed is a packet of information about MUW so you will have the latest information about what is going on here. Also, we have included a map of campus with Pope Banquet Room marked and a parking pass for you to put on your dash. Parking spots will be reserved with orange cones on the east side of Hogarth dining facility.
What do you need to bring with you? An open mind, a spirit of collaboration, and your passion for MUW.
Please contact Jill O’Bryant at (662) 329-7100 or email: jobryant@pres.muw.edu to RSVP by October 26, 2007, or with any questions. We look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
Claudia A. Limbert, Ph.D.
President
