Holcombe promoted to executive director of
development at MUW
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Alumna Andrea Nester Holcombe,
CPA/PFS, has been promoted to executive director of
development at Mississippi University for Women.
Holcombe’s new responsibilities include supporting
the advancement
activities of the institution, directing the
management of the total development program,
promoting fund-raising programs, identifying
potential contributors to special project funds and
planning and
coordinating benefit events such as the Welty Gala
and other functions.
“I’m excited and honored to continue to serve my
alma mater in its
advancement efforts. Today, private funding is so
very important as it
ensures that MUW will continue to be a nationally
recognized institution
of higher learning. I look forward to working with
our alumni and friends as the university travels to
greater heights,” she said.
The West Point native joined MUW in 2001 as director
of planned giving.
In that role, she assisted MUW in growing its
planned giving program.
She successfully secured the three largest gift
annuities and increased
membership in the Reneau Society, the university’s
planned giving
recognition society, by 15 percent.
Holcombe is a 1992 cum laude graduate of MUW. After
graduating, she
took a position as a staff accountant with Watkins,
Ward & Stafford in
West Point. Later, she completed the certified
public accountant exam
and then personal financial specialist
certification. She was involved
in tax and auditing work and eventually became
senior accountant.
She is past president of the Junior Auxiliary of
West Point, past treasurer of United Way of Clay
County and past president and currently a member of
the North Mississippi Planned Giving Council. She
attends First United Methodist Church in West Point.
When she’s not crunching numbers, Holcombe enjoys
playing golf and
tennis. However, cooking is her latest passion in
which she completed
the culinary arts certification program at MUW in
2007.
Holcombe has three children.
