Amy Swingle
Executive Director
Amy is from Crossville, IL. She
received her Bachelors of Science and Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University. She has a Masters of Arts, Sports Administration from Central Michigan University. She served as a Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation at CMU in 1990-1992. She then went on to be the facility Coordinator for the Office of Recreational Sports at the University of Texas in 1992-1995. In 1995 - 2005, Amy was the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports at Sam Houston State
University, Huntsville, TX. She has been the Executive Director of MUW Campus Recreation for 1 year and says, "I love working around college students. It keeps me young in my mind, body, and soul. The positive energy is contagious."

Suzanne Ries
Assistant Director of Facilities and Aquatics
Suzanne joined the Office of Camus Recreation in June 2006. She received her BA in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Recreation Administratoin, from Spring Arbor University where she also served as the Women's Intramural Director. Suzanne has her Master of Arts from Central Michigan University in Recreation and Parks Administration. She also served as the Graduate Assistant of Facilities for University Recreation at CMU. Suzanne is proud of being a part of a great team here at MUW

"Coach" Rita Higginbotham
Assistant Director, Intramural Sports
Coach Rita was born in Macon, MS. She attended University of West Alabama. She was the first female
inducted into the Univ. or West AL Sports Hall of Fame, in October 28, 1995. She has worked at the W since 1982, where she coached softball, and recently, has become Director of
Intramural Sports. "The thing about this job that gives me the most satisfaction is planning and organizing programs, and then watching the students enjoying and
benefiting from their participation in those activities."

Betsy Spencer
Business and Wellness Coordinator
Betsy has worked in the Office of Campus Recreation for two years. She is working on her exercise science degree while maintaining a full time job. She has two children, and her proudest accomplishment has been going back to school at age 34.
