The W welcomes all to campus for annual Oktoberfest celebration
Mississippi University for Women’s Student Programming Board is excited to welcome students, employees and the greater Columbus community to campus for its annual Oktoberfest celebration.
The event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 from 5-8 p.m. on Shattuck Lawn at The W.
Among the festivities planned are free caricature artist, balloon artist and cookie decorating. Additionally, there will be performances by the Masker Honorary Social Club, the Owlettes Dance Team and the United Harmony Gospel Choir.
The festival favorite costume contest will return this year as well.
There will be food trucks on site for festivalgoers too.
Tickets are available at the entry, and cost 50 cents each. Activities typically range from $1-$3, or two to six tickets.
“Oktoberfest is not only a great time for students to enjoy the nice fall weather and have fun, but it provides a way for the organizations to fundraise without it feeling overwhelming. Students need events that help them feel connected to each other, the community and the university. Oktoberfest is the perfect event for that!” said Asia Duren, director of student life at The W.
