MISSION:

The mission of the B.F.A. in Studio Art degree program is to prepare students for careers in visual art/design and the pursuit of advanced degrees in art studies through an educational experience based on the development of fundamental skills, cultivation of creative thinking, and the synthesis of learning resulting in creative works.   

GOALS:

1. To foster student’s awareness and competency of various artmaking practices.
2. To analyze and demonstrate the common elements and vocabulary used in art and design. 
3. To develop art students who can think, synthesize, and solve problems creatively.
4. To demonstrate an ability to place works of art/design in historical, cultural, and stylistic contexts.
5. To prepare students for professional careers and graduate studies via the creation of a portfolio or body of work.
