MUW School of Education 2020
Measure 1 – Impact on P-12 Learning and Development (Component 4.1)
This report provides information provided by LifeTracks on the impact of Mississippi P-12 students taught by Mississippi University for Women School of Education (MUW SOE) program completers. The report follows the cohort model to follow first year completers that are matched to the Mississippi Department of Education’s 18 statewide assessments to document the completer impact on P-12 learning. These statewide assessments consist of Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) for Grades 3-8 in English, Math, and Science and High School End of Course Exams for Algebra I, US History, Biology, and English.
Data is disaggregated by traditional versus alternate teacher route teacher education programs. Fourteen institutions of higher learning that are a part of the Mississippi Education Preparation Providers (Statewide EPP) provided data through LifeTracks to produce comparison data. Additionally, through LifeTracks, statewide data from the Mississippi Public School System is also used. This Impact Report Card for Mississippi was developed to comply with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standard 4 (Program Impact).

Measure 2 – Indicators of Teaching Effectiveness (Component 4.2)
The Teacher Intern Assessment Instrument (TIAI) provides a comprehensive assessment of formative and summative teaching practices of teacher candidates. The TIAI is used to assess candidates throughout the entire program. Both University Supervisors and Mentor Teachers utilize the TIAI to conduct assessments of each teaching internship field placement. Each indicator is aligned to InTASC Standards, CAEP Standards, and the Mississippi Educator Performance Growth System/Teacher Growth Rubric (TGR). The final summative score obtained during the Internship semester is used for the purpose of this report.
The 25 TIAI indicators are incorporated into five domains: Domain I-Planning and Preparation; Domain II-Assessment; Domain III-Instruction; Domain IV-Learning Environment; and Domain V-Professional Responsibilities. Each indicator is scored on an individual rubric, with “meets standard” (a score of 2.0) demonstrating successful teaching practices by the teacher candidate.
Note: Data for Measure 2 is currently under development/not yet available due to COVID-19’s impact on the implementation of the EPP’s teacher induction program, W-BEST. The EPP plans to implement W-BEST this Fall 2021 Academic Term. Please see the following for an overview of this program: W-BEST will help support new teachers

Measure 3 – Satisfaction of Employers and Employment Milestones (Component 4.3, A. 4.1)
The Satisfaction of Employers and Milestones provides Mississippi University for Women School of Education invaluable information from employers about their satisfaction with the SOE’s initial teacher education graduates (completers) as they enter the teaching profession. The survey is a state proprietary instrument that was created to capture the perceptions of the employers of our program completers. The survey results provide information from employers (principals) about knowledge, skills, and dispositions (preparedness) of the SOE’s completers as they enter the workforce and assume the responsibility of teaching P-12 students.
The survey is administered every May through all state institutions. A survey link is sent to employers of first and third year completers teaching in Mississippi Public Schools. The questions cover the 4 InTASC Domains: The Learner and the Learning, Content, Instructional Practice, and Professional Responsibility. Each survey consists of 18 Likert scale questions with responses ranging from Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, to Strongly Disagree.
This survey serves as a component of the SOE’s overall plan to assess institutional effectiveness and compliance for the Council of Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standard 4 (4.3-Satisfaction of Employers for Initial Programs).
