Underneath the Lintel

September 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Kris Lee, associate professor of literature and philosophy, will be in a revival performance of the one-act play “Underneath the Lintel,” onstage at the Playhouse in Starkville hosted by the Starkville Community Theatre.

Having won awards at state, regional and national competitions in 2023, the show has been invited to headline the Fort Worth Fringe festival in Texas the first weekend of September. Before making that road trip, the production will have one more bow on its home stage. If you missed it last year or if you’re excited to see it again, this is your last local opportunity.

In this gripping ghost story, an eccentric librarian (played by Lee – who claimed Best Actor awards at all three levels of competition in 2023) discovers a weather-beaten book in a return bin – 113 years overdue. Sparked by a message left in its margins, he embarks on a magical quest that takes him around the world and 2,000 years into the past. With astonishing twists and turns, “Underneath the Lintel” draws audience members into an unforgettable odyssey via a one-man monologue.

Written by Glen Berger, “Underneath the Lintel” is directed by Paula Mabry, with assistance from Pattye Archer. Additional crew members for the traveling show include Madeline Golden, Stephen Cunetto and Marsha Williams.

Tickets for the show are available online https://starkville-community-theatre.ticketleap.com/lintelfringe/details at or over the phone at 662.323.6855.
