Location Details

Information Desk

The information desk, located right inside the front doors, is where you get prints, faxes, help for any questions you may have.

Copiers and Print Stations

There are two printing stations in the library. One is located at the information desk, and the other is a self-service printer in the Digital Classroom.

There are also two self-service copiers located next to the juvenile section on the first floor and on the second floor, above the café. These copies require change to operate.

Common Grounds Café

Common Grounds Café is located on the east side of the building, and is a great location to pick up drinks, breakfast, baked goods, and snacks. There are two entrances to the café from the library, as well as two entrances from the outside of the building. The regular hours are listed below (Note: these hours are subject to change with the academic calendar and university holidays):

Monday-Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Common Grounds

Checkout/Returns Desk

The checkout/returns desk, located on the first floor of the library, is where you check out or return a book, pick up an interlibrary loan or hold request, confirm a study room reservation, or reserve equipment.

Digital Classroom/24-Hour Lab

The Digital Classroom is open whenever the library or coffee shop is open, and is available for approved students to use 24 hours. This room features 28 computers with specialty software and includes a self-service printer for black/white and color printing. This area can also be reserved during normal library hours by faculty/staff for classroom meetings, and is equipped with a projector and screen.

Collections

Reference Collection

Includes reference titles such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, companions, handbooks, etc. Many of these books may be checked out for a limited period. See the checkout/return desk for help borrowing these volumes.

New Releases

These books are the most recently purchased items in the circulating collection. Books continually rotate off these shelves into the stacks, where they will remain.

Juvenile Collection

Includes the Juvenile and Young Adult books.

Connie and Tom Kossen Center for Teaching and Learning

The Connie & Tom Kossen Center for Teaching and Learning is located on the South end of the 2nd floor of the library. Contact the CTL to:

  • Apply for an Active, Problem-based, & Inquiry-based Learning (APIL) grant
  • Reserve the Active learning classroom
  • Schedule classroom consultations
  • Attend a workshop or request one for your department
  • Get classroom technology support
  • Use green screen technology
  • Join a Teaching Circle
  • Get Canvas and other teaching software support
  • Schedule a confidential teaching consultation

Beulah Culbertson Archives and Special Collections

Archives and Special Collections is located in a beautifully renovated space on the second floor of Fant Memorial Library near the elevators. Our reading room is a space where our staff can introduce patrons to archival research and guide in-class exercises using primary sources.
Our reading room provides:

  • Seating for 16 at spacious tables
  • Security for your belongings in cubbies and coat racks
  • A computer station with Microsoft Office and internet access
  • Exhibits for your viewing pleasure
  • Limited copying and scanning by staff

Faculty may also hold a class session in our on-site seminar room, which seats 10.

Archives Website

Gail P. Gunter Multipurpose Room (including Meeting Rooms A & B)

The Gail P. Gunter Multipurpose Room is a versatile event space fit for a variety of needs. The room can be sectioned into two separate Meeting Rooms, each accommodating 50 people, or used as one large space that seats 100. This room is also equipped with a projector screen and kitchenette. For reservations, please contact the office of Resources Management at (662) 329-7126.

Fab Lab

The Fab Lab offers Students, Faculty and Staff assistance in the use of 3D printing / scanning equipment, and modeling software. We offer a wide range of support and creative input for your projects. Tech Lab resources are available by appointment 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. If you are interested in using the Tech Lab, please contact the Library at library@muw.edu, or visit libguides.muw.edu/fablab for more information.

Seminar Room A

  • Students, faculty, and staff can all reserve seminar Room A, and it includes a table with a capacity for eight.

Seminar Room B

  • Seminar Room B is available only for faculty and staff members through the library reservation system, and includes a kitchenette and seating for ten.

Conference Room A

  • Conference Room A is available for faculty/staff reservation. This room has a large conference table with seating for 10, a conference phone, and is equipped with a projector screen.

Conference Room B

  • Conference Room B is available for faculty/staff reservation. This space seats 30 and includes a large conference table, projector screen, and a sink with counter space. For reservations, please contact the library at (662) 329-7332.
