Dr. Hope Durst, assistant professor of education at Mississippi University for Women, has been named Best College Professor in The Commercial Dispatch’s annual “Best of the Triangle.”

The “Best of the Triangle” is a yearly competition where the public gets to decide who is the best at what they do by voting. The contest encompasses the entire Golden Triangle. Durst was previously named among the best college professors in the 2023 contest.

A Columbus native, Durst has always been familiar with The W. Seven years ago, she came on board as an adjunct professor before moving to a faculty position four years ago.

She has taught a variety of courses in the elementary education program and the Master’s of Arts in Teaching Program. Currently, Durst teaches residency students social studies and science teaching methods as well as working with graduate students on their final dissertation.

Durst is honored by the recognition and is happy the work she loves is also valued by the community.

The W has embraced my desire to teach, create and research, and my passion has only grown with the support and encouragement of W administration and my colleagues.
