Moore named honorary commander for CAFB
Mississippi University for Women’s Clear Moore was recently named an honorary commander for Columbus Air Force Base.
The 14th Flying Training Wing hosted an honorary commander induction on Aug. 9 at the Columbus Event Center on Columbus Air Force Base. For two to three years, honorary commanders are connected and engaged with their designated military unit and are expected to be a bridge to the community for military members. There were 15 honorary commanders inducted into their respective squadrons or groups.
“Having served on the Military Affairs Committee with Chamber of Commerce, the role of honorary commander will be a wonderful opportunity to strengthen those relationships and create even stronger ties between The W and Columbus Air Force Base. In the Student Success Center, we are invested in supporting all W students toward reaching their academic goals. I am hopeful that this role will provide increased insights into how we can better support our active duty, veterans and military dependent students,” said Moore, director of The W’s Student Success Center.
The Honorary Commander connects local key leaders in the regional area with Columbus Air Force Base commanders, personnel and families. The program encompasses a more intimate and personal approach for fostering strong relationships within CAFB’s community and provides an avenue to stay connected.
The program allows local leaders to fully immerse with Air Force culture and experience the mission of 14th Flying Training Wing firsthand: to train world-class pilots. They are included in wing and unit functions as much as possible, such as ceremonies, meetings and social functions.
Moore was named director of the Student Success Center in 2023.
The Student Success Center, located in Reneau Hall, provides students with the necessary tools for academic success at the university. The center provides tutoring, proctoring and disability services to all students. The Student Success Center is additionally responsible for orientation. Moore holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Specialist of Special Education from the University
