COLUMBUS, Miss. — Mississippi University for Women students, faculty and staff as well as members of the community are invited to Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center to kick off the holidays with a Christmas party celebration, Thursday, Dec. 12 from 5-7 p.m. The event is free to attend and offers fun for the entire family.

Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center is situated above the old Tombigbee River Channel. It offers a variety of resources for the community.

“We are excited to host another Christmas party at Plymouth Bluff! The main center will be decorated and open to the public to come enjoy one of their first holiday events of the season,” said Chandler Lester, director of Plymouth Bluff.

The celebration will feature cupcakes and cookies catered by Sodexo, The W’s food service contractor.

There will be ornament decorating for the children, and they will get to keep the ornament.
The newly renovated facility will be decked out in Christmas decor to usher in the holiday season.

“We want to have a local event for the public to come for free and enjoy food, music and have an activity for kids to do,” said Lester.

Located at 2200 Old West Point Road, the Bluff, which is owned and operated by The W, is situated above the old Tombigbee River Channel. Some of the many offerings include nearly five miles of nature trails of differing terrain and difficulty, 23 cabins with the amenities of most hotel rooms, a tennis court and an 11,700-square-foot conference building with everything needed to host an event or retreat.

Previously, the bluff opened its doors to the community to show off its new renovations, in August. The upcoming holiday event is part of the new community-focused approach to the bluff, highlighting the benefits of having the facility available for the public’s use.
