The W celebrates high rankings for best value and social mobility
Mississippi University for Women remains among the best in the region, recognized for best value and social mobility by U.S. News & World Report.
The annual “Best Colleges” ranking placed the University at No. 15 in Top Public Schools – Regional Universities (South). Additionally, U.S. News & World report placed The W at No. 11 in Best Value Schools – Regional Universities (South) and tied for No. 12 in Top Performers on Social Mobility – Regional Universities (South).
“I am proud that once again The W has been recognized as one of the best values and as a top performer for the social mobility of our students. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to the success of our students,” said W President Nora Miller.
Among public universities in the south region, The W ranked No. 4 in Best Value and No. 4 among Top Performers on Social Mobility.

- No. 34 overall among Regional Universities (South).
Now in its 40th year, the rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 national colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality and place an emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.
U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of the undergraduate programs at America’s colleges and universities. The rankings offer detailed information of the institutions and data on factors such as outcome measures — including graduation rates, graduate indebtedness and post-graduate earnings.
