Dr. Oppenheimer & students attend Teachers of Mathematics Conference

On 11 November, Dr. Bonnie Oppenheimer, Professor of Mathematics in the Dept. of Sciences and Mathematics, took five students to the 2023 Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference in Oxford, MS.

Dr. Oppenheimer presented “Venn Diagrams and Attribute Blocks” during the conference (twice!).

Two of the students who attended the conference were Mathematics with Teaching Certification majors — Joshua White and Audrey Mitchell. The other three attending students were Elementary Education majors with Mathematics concentrations — Izabella Stanphill, Kayla Hickman, and Sierra Poire.

This was a very informative trip, as the students saw innovative teaching techniques throughout the day. The only down side is that everyone won a door prize at the Business Meeting at the end of the day, Why was that disappointing? The door prizes were University of Mississippi shirts! (Well, the conference was in Oxford, after all!)
