author of Desperation Road
Michael Farris Smith teaches creative writing at Mississippi University for Women. He will read from his second novel, “Desperation Road,” the story of a man and a woman who meet on a dark road in McComb, Mississippi., one holding a gun and both on the run. Kirkus Reviews praises it as a “smooth-flowing novel of the Deep South” that offers “a long-brewing hunger for vengeance and a slim chance of redemption.” Smith’s previous books include the novel Rivers and the novella The Hands of Strangers.
