Adam Vines returns with his collection of ekphrastic poetry, Out of Speech, exploring the interactions of people and art. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Vines first came to the symposium with The Coal Life, a collection about early 20th-Century Alabama mining camps. Since then, he has collaborated on two collections with Allen Jin, According to Discretion and Day Kink. Vines teaches poetry at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he is Director of the English Honors program and editor of the Birmingham Poetry Review.
