Friday, Oct. 23, 10:40 a.m.
Randall Horton returns to the symposium with his fourth collection of poems, titled {#289-128}, using his prisoner number from an incarceration for drug running in 1999. These poems present a meditation on the criminal justice system and on the ways poetry brought Horton out of it. His previous books include poetry collections Pitch Dark Anarchy, The Definition of Place, and The Lingua Franca of Ninth Street, as well as the memoir Hook. He teaches English and Creative Writing at the University of New Haven and sits on the Advisory Board of Pen America’s Pen Prison Writing Program. He has also taught as Visiting Writer in The W’s MFA in Creative Writing.
