It is Mississippi University for Women's policy that non-immigrant international students must have health insurance to be enrolled at MUW. International students must purchase an insurance plan independently from the university. Proof of insurance coverage must be submitted to the Office of International Admissions within one week of each term starting.
It is obligatory that all international students submit records of 2 vaccinations for MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) a chest xray, and a tuberculcosis shot. X-rays cost $75 and must be done in the United States along with the tuberculosis shot. Translated records may be submitted prior to registration, though the Office of International Admissions must receive all documents within two weeks of registration.
Before students leave their native countries, it is very important to inquire about the regulations regarding the transfer of funds. In addition to the costs of travel, students should have at least $500 (USD) upon arrival in Mississippi to meet initial expenses. Foreign bank drafts for spending money made out to the university may take up to one month to process, so it is highly recommended that internationally accepted traveler's checks be used by the student in place of checks written on foreign banks.
