This report assesses the impact of Mississippi University for Women (MUW) on the state economy and the benefits generated by the university for students, taxpayers, and society. The results of this study show that MUW creates a positive net impact on the state economy and generates a positive return on investment for students, taxpayers, and society.
The university plays a key role in helping students increase their employability and achieve their individual potential. MUW provides students with the education, training, and skills they need to have fulfilling and prosperous careers. Its student volunteers support the state economy through the output and employment generated by state businesses and organizations.
MUW influences both the lives of its students and the regional economy. The university supports a variety of industries in the Golden Triangle (plus Monroe and Noxubee counties), serves regional businesses, and benefits society as a whole in Mississippi from an expanded economy and improved quality of life.
The W is driven by the six pillars of its strategic plan: Academic Excellence; Advancement Excellence; Community Connections; Degree Completion; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and Financial Sustainability.
