The Maritime Carpenter Pathway is designed to help you enter a trade in as little as one year, then gain the necessary skills to move into management positions when it’s time to take the next step.
Students earn their Carpenter Apprentice Certificate from MGCCC Maritime Academy in their first year, allowing them to begin working immediately. In their second year, students earn the Associate of Applied Science in Maritime Technology to improve their career opportunities. In the third year students earn their Associate of Arts degree and complete many of their core courses toward a bachelor degree.
Students then transfer to The W's College of Business & Professional Studies. The Bachelor of Business Administration – Management Concentration can be completed entirely online in one year, without having to leave your current job.
After completing the bachelor degree, students are encouraged to apply to The W's MBA program, completed online in one year. The MBA is widely recognized as the standard for senior management or those wishing to start their own business.
The W is ranked as a The Nation's Leading Transfer University by the Chronicle of Higher Education and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. You'll find admissions counselors that will work with you to make your transition from a community college to The W a seamless and simple process. You will also find scholarships and financial aid options designed with you in mind and a welcome and inviting campus community with other transfer students, just like you.
It's not just a tagline. We honestly believe the cost of a college education should not be a deterrent to your pursuit of earning a college degree. We were founded on the belief everyone should be able to get a college education. Year after year, The W ranks as one of the Best Value Universities. The W has kept our tuition among the lowest in the South. We offer that same low tuition to residents of every state. Plus, we have a range of scholarships and grants to help you pay for your education.
